57 paintings, drawings and sculptures – among others by Boldini, Previati, De Pisis, Pagliarini, Minerbi, Mentessi, Funi and Melli – will tell some significant aspects of public and private life between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: the changes in the territory and the city, family affections, places of work and leisure, devotion and new forms of spirituality, the literary imagination and the memory of antiquity.
The exhibition compares works from three Ferrara collections, the Galleries of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Assicoop Modena&Ferrara UnipolSai Assicurazioni Collection; the BPER Banca Collection (which now houses the artistic heritage formerly of the Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara), and is housed in three important historic museums, Museo di Casa Romei, Palazzo Bonacossi, Palazzina Marfisa d'Este.
The intent of the exhibition is to trigger a dialogue, on a historical and artistic level, between the works on display and the permanent installation.
The exhibition is organized by Mibac, the Territorial Directorate of Museum Networks of Emilia-Romagna, the Casa Romei Museum, the Galleries of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Museums of Ancient Art of the Municipality of Ferrara, the Ferrara Arte Foundation, AssicoopModena & Ferrara UnipolSai Assicurazioni and Legacoop Estense.
