SMBE 2023, a world conference of the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution (SMBE) aims to present the results of the most recent studies on the molecular aspects of biological evolution, the practical implications in applied disciplines, and how to transfer this new knowledge even to a non-expert audience. For one week Ferrara was the world capital of Molecular Biology and Evolution.

Several venues used spread within the Ferrara Center: Polo degli Adelardi, Palazzo Bevilacqua Costabili, Claudio Abbado Municipal Theater, Chiostri di San Paolo Complex, Ex Refettorio, Sala della Musica, Istituto Istruzione Superiore Orio Vergani, Castello Estense and Parco Massari.
It runs from July 23, 2023 to July 27, 2023, and involves female researchers from more than fifty countries around the world.
